It's never too late to follow your dream of becoming a mage.
Take Benji for example, who has yet to demonstrate any magical aptitude whatsoever and has failed the entrance exam to Thelspoint University thirteen times. He doesn't let that stop him, though, and on his fourteenth try he miraculously shows just enough magic to be granted admission. For a brief moment, it looks like his dream might become a reality.
There's just the small matter of surviving his first year, surrounded by students a decade younger who are more than happy to remind Benji how little magic he has.
