This book addresses aging in the setting of the "Knowledge Economy" and indicates that aging in the Knowledge Economy does not necessarily just mean challenges, but also means unprecedented opportunities. This argument is made based on critiquing and interpreting economic and gerontology theories, presenting empirical data and analyses, and a case study. This book connects the uniqueness of the "Knowledge Economy" with the crises that an aging population is predicted to bring about. It also points out the valuable qualities of seniors. Built on theories, empirical data, and case study, this book presents evidence that seniors have a special and powerful role to push the growth of the "Knowledge Economy" and that the "Knowledge Economy" facilitates seniors' socioeconomic activities and enhances their life quality. It is this dynamic interaction between the Knowledge Economy and seniors' capacity for socioeconomic activities that transforms the predicted aging-related crises into new opportunities.
