The road between Espanola and Taos, New Mexico, commonly referred to as the "High Road to Taos," covers a distance of about fifty miles and passes through many northern frontier settlement towns. MARGARET NAVA, a native of Illinois, spent twenty years traveling throughout the American Southwest researching and writing hundreds of local and national magazine articles about natural science, anthropology, spirituality, and Hispanic and Native American traditions. However, the lure of the Land of Enchantment, as New Mexico is call, was strong and several years ago she left the Midwest behind.
