This is an abbreviated version of this introduction: It is with great honor that we dedicate this special limited edition republication of Character Building to the 50th anniversary of the Tuskegee Institute National Historic Site, a place where the legacy of Booker T. Designated as a National Historic Site in 1974, it remains the only university campus in the United States to be so honored by Congress, a reflection of the profound impact Booker T. Washington had on education and on the nation as a whole.
Character Building is a timeless work that reflects Booker T. Washington's core beliefs in the power of education, self-discipline, and moral integrity.
