Für Jürgen Habermas gründet die Modernität des Staates im revolutionären Gehalt seiner politischen Verfassung. In seinem Buch untersucht Simon Gurisch den spezifisch modernen Sinn der politischen Verfassung von Gesellschaften. Durch eine textnahe Auseinandersetzung mit den Werken von Habermas und Hegel entwickelt er die Idee einer Vergesellschaftung durch Individualisierung. Im Mittelpunkt steht dabei die systematische Analyse von Hegels Theorie der bürgerlichen Gesellschaft. Ziel ist es, diese als eine politische Philosophie der modernen Gesellschaft zu verstehen, die das Phänomen der Individualisierung vor dem Hintergrund der Vergesellschaftung natürlicher Bedürfnisse interpretiert. Individualisierung wird auf diese Weise als präreflexiver Prozess der Aneignung des Selbst durch die Einbildung natürlicher Bedürfnisse verständlich. In kritischer Absicht wird untersucht, inwieweit die politische Verfassung von Gesellschaften daher einem Naturalismus der Individualisierung ausgesetzt ist, der das Projekt der Moderne wie ein Schicksal begleitet.For Jürgen Habermas, the modernity of the state is based on the revolutionary content of its political constitution. In his book, Simon Gurisch examines the specifically modern meaning of the political constitution of societies. Through a textual examination of the works of Habermas and Hegel, he develops the idea of socialisation through individualisation. At the centre of this is a systematic analysis of Hegel's theory of bourgeois society. The aim is to understand this theory as a political philosophy of modern society that interprets the phenomenon of individualisation against the background of the socialisation of natural needs. In this way, individualisation becomes understandable as a pre-reflexive process of the appropriation of the self through the imagination of natural needs. With critical intent, the author examines the extent to which the political constitution of societies is therefore exposed to a naturalism of individualisation that accompanies the project of modernity like a destiny.
