Textile science is not always well-understood at undergraduate, postgraduate and professional levels within the forensic science discipline, yet textile products are often the source of trace evidence and may be considered as a crime scene in their own right. Textile products of interest to the forensic scientist include individual fibers, yarns, fabrics, apparel and furnishings. Such products are often potential evidence in criminal investigations.
