Saturday mornings in the Lyons household usually mean pancakes, music, laughter, and Cocoa barking at everything. But this Saturday feels different.
Instead of breakfast on the table, Kimika and Kalynn find boxes, canned goods, grocery bags, and bottled water. Their family is heading to the neighborhood outreach center to volunteer, and the girls are about to learn that helping others is about much more than carrying supplies.
At first, Kalynn thinks volunteering means sorting food and handing out bags. But when she meets families from her own neighborhood, including a boy named Elijah who quietly watches over his little sister, she begins to understand something deeper: people who need help do not always look different. They may be classmates, neighbors, or children with dreams, worries, and responsibilities no one else sees.
