If you are interested in becoming a better leader, buy this book. If you work in a big company, definitely buy this book! I will tell you things - the reality of what's happening in your organization - based on fact and experience, not academic fantasy. I will use simplistic platitudes and ridiculous, yet true, stories and personal anecdotes to make my point, but I will also back it up with solid research from well-known experts in leadership.
Yeah, yeah, yeah...your organization is structured to listen to your employees, and you have forty-one different programs in place that allow for an "open and honest exchange" from the "mailroom to the boardroom." In fact, you run a "bottoms up" culture where ideas are recognized, and "people are valued." You encourage free and open dialogue and even have a quasi-anonymous quarterly employee survey so you can measure, quantify, and dashboard your progress. And it is working so well that you've put it on the whiteboard, socialized it and the curve is headed in the right direction. To 90% of my readers, I humbly and respectfully call: "bullshit."
