The town is home of idyllic fen houses, romantic drawbridges and swing bridges, along with some 40 km on canals. Historic ships can also be found at anchor here. Papenburg has a large open-air museum and is a modern young town with around 35.000 inhabitants.The photographs show Papenburg at all times of the day and year - from its magnificent flowers in summer which won the town a gold medal in the european "Entente Florale" competition, the silent splendour of its churches, its shipyard and rich maritime history, to its role as the birth place of the luxury Meyer-Werft cruise ships.
