In the wrong location, two moonlighting town employees start unearthing the town's philanthropist, George Goodenough. Interred three days ago, his nephew/mad scientist (Professor Archie) wants to reinvigorate him so he can play Santa in the town's regional Christmas Parade.But 'ol George wanted to be left in peace. From the jump, he indicates how he didn't want to be revived.
Crooked Mayor Sorrell "Sorry" Pufferfish wants to be the Parade's Santa; he will stop at nothing to make certain George never reaches the Santa Sleigh Float. In cahoots with the Mayor, four gangsters built four crypts; they plan to convert them to warehouses holding contraband. Insomnia-driven, first-time Town Manager Hamilton Huckleberry attempts to manage the town like he was taught at college-efficiently, effectively, and legally- but the Mayor, Police Chief, and Funeral Director are corrupt and fight him at every turn.
Throughout this science fiction dramedy, there is a cast of characters: undercover federal agents, a faux pirate, a lusty politician, a sleepy jailer, an undocumented immigrant, young lovers, and brutes. The historic Parody Cemetery in the fictional South Jersey Town is another "character" which comes "alive" at various times in the story. At the heart of it all is the Town Clerk, Ms. Boysenberry, and honest, kind town employees who must work outside employment to make ends meet.
So if you, dear reader, want to bury yourself in slapstick goofy comedy, or are literally or figuratively dying to find far too many cliches and aged jokes, why not experience your own personal "reinvigoration" by enjoying Parody?
