ROOTS - Laying the Foundations Level 1 of the Raiponse Learners series
Roots is where the journey begins - a gentle introduction to English designed for children.
At this stage, learners are not asked to "study" English, but to experience it. Through play, songs, movement, and stories, children absorb the sounds and meaning of words naturally - the same way they learned their first language.
Learning Approach
Learning through immersion and routine: Children hear and repeat simple words and expressions in their contexts- greetings, colours, animals, emotions, classroom actions.
Multi-sensory engagement: Songs, visuals, stories and short dramatizations help children connect sound, image, and meaning in a very rich way.
Story-based learning: Each unit is built around the continuing story that gives life to new vocabulary and structures. The stories are rhythmic, short, and easy to act out, helping children remember language through emotion and imagination.
Gentle progression: The same expressions and words reappear across lessons in new contexts, allowing natural reinforcement without pressure.
Skills Focus
Listening: Developing the ear for English sounds and intonation.
Speaking: Repeating, singing, and responding with confidence - even with single words or chunks.
Phonological awareness: Recognising patterns of sounds and rhythm through chants, rhymes, and games.
Understanding: Building comprehension through gestures, images, and predictable routines.

Beyond language, Raiponse Learners Roots helps children:

Roots can be used for the preparation of the Cambridge Starters and Movers exam. It is made to contribute to achieve the A1 level.
Français ROOTS - Les fondations de l'anglais
Roots est la première étape du parcours Raiponse Learners : une découverte douce et immersive de l'anglais, pensée pour les de 6-12 ans.
L'objectif n'est pas d'"étudier la langue", mais de vivre l'anglais : à travers des chansons, des histoires et des rituels, les enfants s'imprègnent naturellement des sons, du rythme et du sens de la langue.
Chaque séance s'appuie sur des activités ludiques et sensorielles qui encouragent la participation, la répétition naturelle et le plaisir de communiquer. Les histoires courtes et rythmées donnent vie au vocabulaire, stimulent l'imagination et permettent à l'enfant de mémoriser avec le cœur autant qu'avec la tête.
L'enfant apprend à écouter, à reconnaître les sons, à répondre par un mot ou un geste, à s'exprimer avec confiance. Petit à petit, les "racines" de la langue se forment - solides, vivantes et joyeuses.
Roots pose les bases d'une relation positive à l'anglais, nourrie par la curiosité, la confiance et le plaisir de grandir.
Roots peut être utilisé dans la préparation à l'examen Cambridge Starters et Movers.
