This study aims to understand and explore in greater depth the role of the development project manager, with a view to helping them become more aware of and gain a clearer and more precise understanding of their responsibilities. The research methodology involved a survey based on interviews, in which fifteen experienced project managers working on various development projects were interviewed. The aim was to explore the roles of the project manager in greater depth through a review of the relevant literature and information sources. The comments gathered from the respondents and the literature review contributed to the development of this research. Indeed, all the development project managers interviewed emphasised the importance of understanding the role of the development project manager. They highlighted the need for project managers to possess a basic level of knowledge in order to fulfil their responsibilities effectively, thereby contributing to the success of development projects. The success of the project depends largely on the project manager, as they are the one steering the project.
