Follow the continuing adventures of post-apocalyptic submarine Captain Mike Salvo and his faithful pit bull, Snappy, as they navigate an incredibly dangerous world where only fifteen percent of the world's population remain after H5N1 (bird flu) has eradicated the entire planet. Based in Portland, Oregon thirteen years in the future, the pair seek to repair a thin thread of civilization aiding a struggling populace of survivors growing their own food and medicines (The Alliant) with a unifying cry of "E Pluribus Unum" or "Out of Many, One." Traditional supply chains have all long been exhausted, including those of the Drug Cartels. This opened the door for an insidious gasoline derived newcomer called Krokodil which provides such a powerful high that they return for more even after it necrotizes the flesh of users and now plagues a number of survivors huddled together within a maniacal brotherhood known simply as The Kroks. They've burned the libraries, looted the less organized and now devolve into cannibalism. An evil trans Vice King known as Patton controls the seedy underbelly of the Wilted Rose City serving alcohol, weed, gambling and corruption to any who can still afford life's pleasantries. This includes the AliBaba set of West Hills Portland elite, desperate to retain their grip on the failing masses throughout the city whether through arranged fights or outright slavery. This story is an often times grueling struggle between right and wrong, where self-sacrifice abounds and doing the right thing can mean the difference between survival and ghastly, violent death. There is Ruk, a prolific eight foot serial killer (suffering gigantism). Korath, an eleven foot genetically altered liger who springs death upon a Shroom Festival in Astoria. On the other side is May Love, the beautiful motorcycle riding formerly fifth-ranked national judo champion, along with fifteen-year-old Imari, a girl who has witnessed the worst but still holds hope deep within her for the future. Mike Salvo is a six foot two, two hundred twenty pound former fixer, expert in both Savate and Krav Maga. Witnessing his beloved wife's death and ghastly consumption has turned him into a machine of vengeance. But much more, he struggles to maintain a just society based in good and doing unto others as you would have others do to you. His home is a repurposed one hundred-eleven foot North Korean commando submarine which now ferries not drugs but food, medicine and people throughout a world where being caught could mean the worst imaginable consequences. He navigates the treacherous waters much like the tramp steamers from a hundred years before. Cell phones are gone. The internet nearly destroyed, however a malevolent AI known only as Qui manipulates the richest while bringing controlled suffering to the world it would have worship it. This is a three part thrill ride of the highest order.
