Пълно описание

Am I too cynical? Perhaps I should read with eyes that are more naïve.

This is a novel about a London publisher who moves to Wales to test the depths of his roots there. In a seaside university town he seeks the advice of a number of characters: the scholar who has dedicated himself to his work at the expense of other aspects of his life; the wife who has herself sacrificed a great deal in becoming his companion; the professor who is now a public intellectual; the actress who is his wife; and the artist whose works are to be seen in the houses of the town. But what exactly is the relationship between these people?

Scribblertown is the author's own translation of her novel published originally in Welsh as Llanllenorion, This is a challenging, pioneering novel woven from the present, the past and the future, and from dreams and poetry.

'This is a very substantial work. It draws the reader onwards because of the unexpected strangeness in its varying course.'

- Bobi Jones
